Chitchat with: Olga Gilowska

177cm // 78 60 86 - Polish - Motheragency: Fashion does it Better
Conventional beauty has never failed if quirkiness and some edges +  a natural impeccable body shape were given. And there's no difference in Olga Gilowksa's case. The chances of a prime career start seem rather brilliant, as her management is quite avant grade: FM London, Cat Model Management Berlin + the girls at FDIB as her motheragents sound like a promising triple to us. As for now, Olga is off to Berlin for the Fashion Week castings via Cat Model Management and we have no doubts that she'll show up at some of the few Bebelplatz-located shows that are valued as quite tasteful (in casting terms), at least. Take a look at our quick chat with the young stunner.

Blogger-Project: Part 4 "Situation Now"

After publishing three parts of our Blogger-Project (click here for chapter 1, 2 and 3) where our participants talked about their sites, the intention for blogging and Newfaces in the industry, it is time to offer you the last piece of cake - part four, which is covering the topic of the recent situation in the fashion world. At the last shows the casting has been quite different and surprising compared to the last couple of seasons. Supers came back, VS models working it on a Prada runway and new girls who seemed to be super promising at first, slowed down in the end. Moreover, the term "plus-size" seems to get more and more relevant again, actually kind of losing that certain negative connotation it had the last couple of years. What might be the reason for such a (more or less) drastic change in the industry? Read what the Bloggers have to say about this issue.

Chitchat with: Mia Temirova

175cm // 83 58 88 - Ukrainian - Motheragency: Sharm Models
In the last few days we've sent some questions out to our favorite newfaces, going from Ramona Chumra (Next) through to Anne Sophie Monrad (Ford) and Olga Gilowska (FM London). Talking about favorites, we did of course not forget about Ukrainian newface Mia Temirova! Our obsession for Elite NY's Mia can't be couched into terms. Something fascinating, outstanding & unpredictable but at the same time conventionally beautiful and old school; all those qualities simply make 17 years old Mia Temirova one in a million. At the present time, she's in London until the 18th of August, Berlin Fashion Week could be an option to leave the city for some days but let's wait and see. In the meantime: enjoy our quick chat with Mia!

Newface Madness @ Fresh Model Management

Marleen Gaasbeek @ Fresh by Jonathan Waiter
Doing an interview with Fresh Model Management in April was a pleasure for us. Back then we discussed the Dutch market, Melissa Tammerijn, the early days of Fresh and scouting newfaces etc with Suzanne (leading Fresh MGMT with her partner).  "Tall, nice proportioned and on top of that they need to have a sparkling personality", was one of the lines that sum up the qualities which Suzanne and her team are looking for in potential models on the streets. We cooperated with Fresh again and completed a little selection on our favorite Fresh newbies. And they not only stasisfy the qualities mentioned above but also have already attracted important interest. So, don't forget to take a look on the whole review!

Obsessed with: Helena Kornilova

Hailing from Russia (Verb Models)
Standing at 177

Long dark hair, mysterious appeal and edgyness to full extent. Anything else to say about Helena? Well, probably not as these atributes perfectly sum her up. So, we'll let the images do the "talk":

Interview: Specimen Model MGMT Group

Quite new on the US market but already streets ahead of his competitors - Sean of Specimen Model MGMT Group is definitely an essential part of the whole machine. Something that strikes us regarding the female discoveries of Specimen Model Management is the quality on their board - quality, or rather faces who got it, usually being picked up by the most selective agencies of the 4 main markets instantly. Both boards (Specimen and Stellar >their women's board) - adapt perfectly on what the market requires, following current trends but still holding on its own with an expressive yet old school aesthetic line. A perfect example for this, is probably Hannelore Knuts-lookalike Hildie Gifstad from Norway, who's off to a great start after a divine appereance in Jason Wu's Resort show (as the only Newface among some major names in New York). Another well known discovery of Specimen Model MGMT Group is Marike le Roux from South Africa whom top casting director Russel Marsh is crushing on (booking her for his most precious shows from BCBG to Miu Miu). But also his other diamonds such as Maddie Welch (with Supreme) or the exceptional german miss Nele Heinemann. Read our interview with Sean to learn more about his girls and agency. One thing we unfortunately missed to ask him, is how Specimen Models actually manages to keep getting all these striking faces from all over the world, again and again? But it's probably better to keep it a secret anyway.

Interview: Dusan Reljin (Photographer)

Carmen Kass for Numero Paris // Gemma Ward for Bergdorf Goodman

We'd be suprised if there was a magazine-obsessed fashion-addict who has never seen one of Dusan Reljin's monthly contributes to high end magazines such as Vogue US, W Magazine, i-D or Vogue Italia. But it's not only the editorials that make out Reljin's established reputation, especially advertisment campaigns for Cacharel, Lacoste, Sportmax and the American cosmetics empire Estee Lauder (for which he photographed supermodel Daria Werbowy) increased the demand in Relijn's diversified photography. Management + Artists (representing Camilla Akranas, Michelangelo di Battista as well) arranged us a small interview with him and we are very pleased to show you the output.

Newface Madness: Gaga Models (Poland)

There's no doubt that Monika -Jac- Jagaciak can be called a future topmodel, known and appreciated for her perfect propotions, great walk, military disciplin and these increadibly refined features. But more important than just 'having the right look' and a lovely personality for a model, is well considered management from people with experience. Something, that GAGA Models (Jac's motheragency), located in Poznan, Western Poland, definitely knows of. Within 15 years Katarzina Rusin (whom we interviewed almost a year ago) could build up the relevant know-how for that said elaborated management. We obtained an update on their new girls and feel quite certain that Axel, Wioletta (aka 'Wio'), Basia and Patrycia will surely profit of GAGA Model's premium management.

Interview: Billy Kidd (Photographer)

Belonging to our favourite newcomers when it comes to photographers, we are more than happy to finally publish our (previously announced) interview with the talented Billy Kidd. Besides his brilliant model-choices (always spot on with catching the girls' mood/ emotion or character on camera) each of Billy's images has this "special something" -a combination of passion, movement and energy- to it. Timeless yet intruding imagery without elaborate sets, pompous styling but intimacy. Intimacy, which is especially displayed in his latest work with Ieva Laguna or Bo Don.

Blogger-Project: Part 3 "New Faces"

The third part of our Blogger-Project is dedicated to the New Faces in the modelling industry. Sites like fashiondoesitbetter or ldfspot (both participants in our project) regularly feature new girls and therefore offer a great introduction-platform to mother agencies around the globe. Recently, the buzz about new, promising models seems insatiable and there are more and more girls popping up each day. And especially when it comes to runway shows or prestigious campaigns (such as Miu Miu or Prada - probably the epitome of a "New-Face-marketing-brand") the models seem to get more and more "replacable". They do well in one season, and totally fade until the next one even starts. Many people say it's an issue of money - because new girls simply don't require as much payment as already well-known models. But isn't it still the best way for a client to promote his "products" the best way when using a well-known, already established model? And isn't this the reason why many designers or even magazines use celebrities instead? Because their target group simply cannot (or does not want to) identify with these unkown New Faces?
We asked our participating Bloggers what they think of this "trend", if it will continue or will the recent kind of casting (like last seasons Prada or Louis Vuitton show) start a new -revival- wave of the comeback of supermodels/ "plus-sized" girls.

Blogger-Project: Part 2 "the main idea"

In part two of our project, we wanted to know from the participating bloggers what the main idea and the background of their site is. How does their cooperation with model-agencies work and what do they think about other, model (or fashion) related blogs - doesn't it seem a bit "random" to post pics of Newfaces these days?
