Newface Madness @ Eastern Models

Recently, we have experienced a global conglomeration of models: argentinian, dutch, american, scandinavian or german girls - all of them proved that it's not only Brazil or the eastern countries who have the monopoly on beautiful, modelesque inhabitants. Now, it's time for the east to strike back again. And how could we make a feature about this area and NOT mention Eastern Models in Poland. With a bunch of digitals in our inbox, showing their Newfaces, we picked the most promising ones and -of course- want to share them now with you:

Newface Madness in Germany

Before we release the second part of our blogger project (where we'll take a detailed look at the current situation of the fashion industry and its changes) we're keen to show you a small but selective collection of some promising german diamonds from our home country:

Nina (Sebastian MGMT. Group NY)

After walking Vera Wang's Spring 2010 show in NYC, Sebastian can be sure that this mysterious 5'11" German will drum up some enthusiasm. Supreme NY and Modelwerk in Hamburg are lucky to represent her as well.

Mathilda
(seeDS Berlin)

As first job inquiries for Mathilda arrive @ seeDS' office, Berlin surely is burning - to see more of this 5'7
doll! Check her blog: http://poetryyhead.blogspot.com/

Natalie
(Modelwerk)

With a decent first runway season -walking for Strenesse Blue in Berlin- Nat (who's of Chinese origin btw) intrigues with a perfect silhouette (5'8" // 32 23 34) and a face that is sure to be memorised.

Elaine
(seeDS Berlin)

As expected, we received the latest master pieces of seeDS agent Lisa. One of them, showing the lovely Elaine (5'7") who seems to be inheritor of Lara Stone's sensual body and Bianca Balti's full lips.

Ivy
(UMA Scouting Berlin)

Ivy is currently getting ready for a stay in Paris and we cannot wait to see how she'll be doing. Her great propotions and increadible hair let you forget about her 5'7 silhouette.

Marie
(seeDS Berlin)

Last but not least Marie Eilers from Potsdam got some new polaroids. DERZEIT and Style Magazine allowed Marie to gain precious editorial experience and now we couldn't be more curious about her first international placements.

Blogger-Project

It's not a secret that blogs are ruling the world these days. Fashion world especially. With streest-style blogs, inspiration blogs, designer-dedicated blogs, blogs about and blogs about models. Even model agencies, big magazines (V-Mag or LOVE seem to be the best examples) or fashion related insiders (>see Natalie Joos' new site about her "love for vintage, travel, music and casting" which she mentioned in our interview with her) use blogs for sharing their updates with everyone. And isn't it convenient, rather brilliant actually, that we all can satisfy our daily desire of fashion-news-updates, gossip, style inspiration or any other fashion-related topic, with just a few clicks?
Well, we won't go into a whole "how-blogging-influences-the-fashion-world" article now, but we thought it would be interesting to share some of the bloggers points of view with you. The passionate minds behind the sites we all love to visit.
Maud & Penny from fashiondoesitbetter
Luis from ldfspot
Alex from ax80
Sandy from mode-und-lifestyle
Sarah from Runway Rebels
and the secret names behind ModelWhispers will not only give us a little insight in what model- and fashion-related blogging means to them but also talk about the recent situation in the industry (be it the fact that Newfaces are being replaced every season or the liability to the use of oldschool "supermodels" or even VS girls in the past months). We are very thankful for every of their inputs and highly appreciate all of the passion they put into their sites every day with each new post.

In the first part of this series we asked them to let us know their main motivation for starting a blog. What makes it so interesting to write about models or fashion? And: how did their actual interest in models start overall?

Chitchat with: Inni @ Image Discovery

Recently named as one of "Image Discovery's most promising diamonds" (read the interview with agency owner Michael Sari here), Inni Kozak is definitely ready to jump-start her modelling career now. With great interest from big agencies all over the world, there should be no doubt that the Ukranian beauty will be able to prove her skills as a model with major jobs very soon. Currently reciding in Tokyo (where Inni is signed with Empire Models), she is not only building up her book, but also gaining experience, knowledge of the industry and important contacts with even more important people. Right before her journey to Japan, we had the opportunity to have a quick chat with Inni.

Newface Madness @ Next Paris

With girls like Anja Rubik, Karlie Kloss or their up-coming stars Tati Cotliar & Valerija Kelava (as their exclusive find!) Next Models have already made themselves a name in the biz and is one of the most famous agencies right now. With some more recent additions to their boards (like Suvi Koponen or previous Meisel-fav & Prada girl Meghan Collison) they show that they're always ready to top their already well-stocked cup of girls with some more cherries.
But it's not only about established models - because what would a model agency be without some really promising diamonds as an ace up their sleeve? And there's no exception when it comes to Next.
So, let's give a face (and name!) to two of these aces:

Interview : Mother Model Management

A mother is always proud of her child. Be it the first day in school, a daughters ballett performance or a sons first soccer play. So, how could Jeff & Mary Clarke (the owners of Mother Model Management) NOT be proud of their very own army of "model-protégés"? With Karlie Kloss as a newborn star in the fashion industry (one Vogue spread chasing the other, major campaigns like Dior, Hermés or a Marc Jacobs fragance ad AND consistently great runway bookings) they surely have nailed down the title of "immaculate management". Because it's not only Karlie who records one successful job after another: also Katie Fogarty (with a D&G campaign + various editorials in Vogue Nippon, Numéro or V-Mag under her belt) or Jenny Sweeney (extremely successful in print with several Vogue eds aswell) shouldn't be forgotten when talking about Mother Models' most successful girls. But of course, it's not only about the established ones. It's the young diamonds in the rough that we're especially interested in. Molly Gunn (with Next NY) who reaped her first real runway bookings at the F/W shows last season (Ports 1961 among her shows) is one example of their promising new girls. We had the pleasure to talk to Jeff and get to know him, the strategies of his agency and of course, his newbies a little better.

Chitchat with: Giedre Dukauskaite

One might think that it has become rather quiet around Giedre Dukauskaite (discovered by the guys from PMST) after her success in print for brands like D&G and Prada or several magazines like Vogue, i-D, Numero, Flair, Muse or V Mag. But just right in time and to break the silence, the Lithuanian stunner with a leonine mane surprised us with her (already third) feature in Vogue Italia - photographed, of course, by Steven Meisel. So, don't fear Giedre missing out on notable high fashion work, we can assure you that she's still in great demand! And therefore, DD is happy that she took some time to do this little Q&A with us:

Interview: Vandemast Model Management

By now, we all should know about dutch girls being first-class model material. And we also should know about one certain dutch model: Ymre Stiekema - former Prada girl and recently featured @ DD with her brandnew polaroids. What may lie in the background and therefore isn't general knowledge, is her representation in the Netherlands - Vandemast Model Management. Being motheragency for a small but select amount of young, promising girls, Vandemast (with Jeroen as head of the agency) is building up a strong base and gaining momentum quite fast. Now, with Ymre getting started full-time this summer, Jeroen better prepares for a whirlwind of requests. Until then: we talked to him about his new agency & other dutch diamonds he is ready to develop.

Newface Madness @ Mandarina Models

While spring-time is spreading just like new girls at agencies are blossoming, it's pretty hard to keep up with all the potential top faces for the up-coming RTW season. Mandarina Models (you might remember them from one of our previous interviews) is no exception - with a whole army of runway-ready girls they are preparing for major things to happen. And they definitely deserve it after a 5-year period of hawk-eyed scoutings, efficient management and hard & disciplined work. A formula that seems rather rewarding, but of course, wouldn't function without decent amount of girls who are willing to be the headliners of Mandarina's calculation. So here we go, take a look at romanian diamonds ready to let their agencies plan work out:

VALERIA

Chitchat with: Amy @ Lizbell

by Jonathan Waiter

Hailing from Canada and making a perfectly positive impression on some of the right (and important!) names, Lizbell's new girl Amy (5'8" // 32 24 33) just arrived in her hometown, Vancouver, after a 4 day residence in NY. Flawless propotions, piercing almond eyes and porcelain skin should've been enough to convince the guys at Elite to sign this lovely little Miss. So now we couldn't be more excited about further steps of Amy - excitement that will most definitely spread over even more important players very soon and lead to a great first runway season. Well done Liz!
Read our short interview with the new Canadian starlight below.

Newface Madness @ Brand (Finland)

With their Steven Meisel approved girl Kirsi Pyrhönen, who also walked an impeccable first show season (Givenchy, Loewe + Prada exclusive to crown it all), Brand Models in Finland should be anything but an unknown name to several top agencies and clients all over the world now. Therefore, the fact that their Newfaces seem to have all what a promising "Brand-girl" needs ("the looks, that catch our attention... and personality, that bubbles behind the beauty") only increases the chances of Brand landing another Top Newcomer very soon.

Interview: Image Discovery

Brazil, the Netherlands or recently Argentinia: many countries proved that they are full of model-esque inhabitants. But no other region is as riddled with potential stars as the russian federation and its surroundings. The Ukraine is just one of these eastern, model-filled states. And since we're speaking of it: it's not only filled with aspiring models, but also with associated agenices. Led by Michael Sari, Image Discovery has already acquired renown with discovering girls like Elizaveta Vishnyakova (signed with Switch in Tokyo where the 14yo Miss just landed a spread in Numéro) or Inni Kozak (with Women worldwide already). Always on the scout for new diamonds, there should be no doubt that the experienced team around Michael will only extend their reputation in the high-fashion market and develop a strong agency-powerhouse in the Ukraine. We had the pleasure to talk to Sari and let him explain the passion behind his work:

UMA Scouting

There's something new intown! But this time it's not about Newfaces attracting our attention - it's their motheragency UMA Scouting. New to the Berlin market, the boutique agency represents boys and girls, preparing and grooming them for the high fashion markets abroad. Currently getting ready for Berlin fashion week, the guys from UMA are always interested in adding some new, promising diamonds to their boards. So, if you think the requirements beneath resonate with you: don't hesitate and try your luck @ UMA!

Send an email including

Women Age 14 - 21 // Height 174cm (5'9") - 181cm (5'11")

Newface Madness: Olga Gilowska @ Cat

Once again, a big amount of joy was sent to us (this time, coming from Cat Model Management - Berlin) in the form of snapshots. Discovered by the two ingenious minds behind fashiondoesitbetter, their new exceptional talent Olga, just 16 yo, hails from Poland and impresses with an edginess that assorts astonishingly well with her rather cute overall-appeal and doll-like features (Imogen Morris Clarke meets Franziksa Drude was our first thought). All topped with a decent deal of intensity in her gaze and a height of 176, this little stunner leaves us enthused to see her further steps in the fashion industry. One of them, just to let you know and make you equally excited as we are, being Fashion Week in Berlin via Cat this summer.

News Update on: Ymre Stiekema

After gracing several Prada ads (from Linnea Rossa, to their Resort and Sports line up to the fragrance campaign and the S/S + F/W ads in 2009) and being photographed by the biggest names in the industry (Meisel, Roversi and Demarchelier to be precise), there was a big silence around Ymre Stiekema. But after her NY agency switch from One to DNA and finishing school this summer (so, finally starting to model full-time), we should probably be prepared for some major things to happen quite soon!
Stay tuned.

Interview: Mode Models

What is it, that previous muse of Steven Meisel, Meghan Collison, and the wicked Simon Nessman (who is part of the Givenchy FW10.11 ads btw) have in common? Nationality? Yes! A great deal of gorgeousness? Of course! But something that is of more importance for us, is the fact that both of them were discovered and developed by the same agency - we're talking about Canada's top agency Mode Models, based in Calgary (Alberta). From Julia Dunstall to supermodel Heather Marks, the list of high profile faces @ Mode is long. And we got the feeling that their young diamonds, such as Samantha Ypma, Ciara Tucker, Gloria Loitz and Emma Jardine could be potential aspirants for the agencie's future stars. The keys to Mode's success? Long term experience in the industry, selective scouting, well-considered & efficient placements and personal, painstaking care. But we guess it's the best way to get an idea of Canada's top agency yourself by simply reading the interview below:

Newface Madness @ seeDS Berlin

And there we have it once again: an e-mail inbox full of promising news. Promising girls to be accurate. seeDS Management' spoiled us with a batch of flawless snapshots of their rough diamonds for the up-coming season. And not that the following girls weren't already lovely enough to be worth a feature, but we thought that also the skills of seeDS agent Lisa (photographer of these amazing images) should be mentioned here ;) Certainly a satisfaction for such polaroid addicts like us!
So how could we not share them with you:

Natasha (176cm // 88cm hips)

/Redhead-alert! With Viktoria @ Cat Berlin, Luisa @ AM Model Management and now Nathasa @ seeDS we're quite happy to see some more red-haired newbies in the game. And in Natasha's case: Measurements + Height only top her potential off!

Natalia
(173cm // 88cm hips)

/Owning a harsh yet symmetrical bone structure with a touch of healthy matureness, blonde haired Natalia appears to be Katrin Thormann's younger sister. Promising? 100%! Major opportunities happening for her soon? Most definitely!

Pia
(181cm // 92cm hips)

/Standing at 181cm, Pia got the perfect height. Newly having bangs, she also got just the right amount of edgyness to her (topping the cute appeal). And all that together with a face like hers, she's certainly making herself interesting for customers. We're excited to see more!

Hanna
(181cm // 90cm hips)

/As the demand for girls with that certain crossover appeal increases also on international basis, Hanna might be one of the most promising diamonds we've lately seen (- in order to get an idea about her body-propotions, please go here.)

Also check out another seeDS newbie on our tumbrl: our Potsdam-based mate Marie (178cm // 89cm hips) just passed her final exams (congrats on that!) and should hopefully be ready for some travelling now!
Last but not least: don't forget to have a look @ blog.seedsmanagement.de for the latest news of the agency.

No kidding!

Full of excitement and thrill about recent campaign news that some nice little industry birds left in our inbox, we're eagerly waiting for the remaining ones to be announced. But besides that, there was someone else who totally sent us into transports of delight and caught our attention with his work: photographer Billy Kidd.
But as we've got some more, detailed information for you about him later on (speaking of an interview here) - just do it likes us, and enjoy his work for now:
