Newfaces: Berlin Fashion Week F/W 2010

Mercedes Benz Fashion Week took place between the 19th and 23rd January in Berlin. Since 2006 designers from all over Germany as well as some forgein ones have shown their latest collections two times a year on the catwalks around Bebelplatz (see above). If you expect an entire article about the upcoming Fall Winter trends, you better take a pass on continue reading. This post is more a summary of newcomers that tried their luck on Berlin's catwalks. These girls weren't exactly everywhere, but certainly have left their marks in the german capital. The following New Faces are those who attracted our attention immediately after darting into our eyes. You can call it "love at first sight". So, here we go!

1. "Axel" from Poland @ Gaga Models
Aleksandra 'Axel' Borowska has been discovered by an agent of the GAGA Model team, one of Polands most infulental modelling companies representing rising star Monika Jac from the current Calvin Klein Collection ads. Still very new, Axel will be at New York for fashion week in Febuary. She walked for Schumacher, Strenesse Blue, Custo Barcelona, Sam Frenzel and Mogrels in Common which we consider as a succesfull debut. She's also signed to IMG New York.

2. Anne Sophie Monrad from Germany @ Modelwerk
Then we have 18yo newbie Anne Sophie Monrad, who's actually not that new compared to the other ladies mentioned in this post. Anne, who's of Danish and German origin, did already some prestigious editorials for Elle Italy, Blonde Magazine, Numero Tokyo and City Magazine. Agencies apart from Modelwerk are Ford in New York and Marilyn in Paris. She walked Schumacher, Mongrels in Common, Custo Barcelona, Allude, Hausach Couture, Michalsky and Sine Goya in Berlin.

3. Kelly Spronk from Holland @ Ragazza Models
It's not the first time we featured Kelly Spronk from Obdam (The Netherlands) on Digital Diamonds. She was discovered by one agent of Ragazza Model Management one year ago and is signed to IMG Paris. Very striking the way she deathstared geniusly at Mongrels in Common, Custo Barcelona, Schumacher, Sam Frenzel and Susanne Wiebe.

4. Agnieszka Pulpa from Poland @ 8fi Models
Agnieszka Pulapa is one of the most haunting new faces at the moment. Memorableare her doll-like face propositions, dreamy yet angelic eyes and her walk on the runway (Check out 8fi Models blog to get an idea of it!) She was at c.neeon, Strenesse Blue and Lena Hoschek in Berlin this season. She's also represented by IMG Paris.

5. Jess Juricin from Germany @ SMC
Last girl is Jessica - Jess - Juricin from Frankfurt. She was discovered by her motheragent and runner of SMC Model Management Veronique Kern in a club. Jess opened Kilian Kerner which will be her only show due to an exclusive agreement. She's represented IMG worldwide and now preparing for Fashion Week in Milan & Paris!

We're curious about who of you will make it on our top 5 list during fashion week in February!

Interview: Imme Visser @ Real Models Amsterdam

Imme Visser, a charming newface from Holland, has had some spreads in inderpendent fashion magazines such as Zoo Mag, Indie during the last months. Totally striking is her strong resemblance to model Kasia Struss and fierce yet harsh expressions.
Also impressive, the way she doesn't keep herself under the weight pressure of the industry, definitely the must-read post of the week on DD.

News Update on: Katrin Thormann

Katrin Thormann (@ Women) blasted into the industry as one of the faces of Prada & Mulberry Spring 2009, both Meisel campaigns, two Vogue Italia Covers in a row, both by Meisel and a Vogue US Editorial, also by Meisel. Vogue Germany, D&G, V Magazine and French Numéro have been keeping this amazing talent very busy during the last months, which didn't taint her perfect face and knife edge cheekbones at all!

Interview: Eric Guillemain (Photographer)

Simple yet intriguing. Moody yet innocent. Melachonlic yet very expressive. We could go on like this forever when describing photographer Eric Guillemain's work. All a little contradicting to themselves. At first sight, it all seems pretty safe. Pretty honest, and without much exaggeration. But when you take a closer look - take a look at the girls he chooses, the poses, the strenght and at the same time vulnerability the models in his shots radiate - you'll see what's behind this absurd simplicity. Usually, it's the best to let the pictures do the talking. And just let them shine, and effect on the observer. In this case: we had the amazing opportunity to talk to Eric himself.
And of course, we won't keep back such an amazing piece of read from our readers:
